Pacific Northwest Dental Conference 2014

PNDC The Pacific Northwest Dental Conference is the largest dental meeting in Washington and features nationally-renowned speakers and more than 100 exhibits. This year’s event was held on June 12th and 13th in Bellevue, WA. We focused on sharing our new technology, including our CAD/CAM system and mill. Thank you to all that stopped by at the convention last week. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Burkhart Proudly Supports the 1st Annual Dentistry From The Heart Event

dentistry from the heart

Burkhart was proud to be a sponsor of the 1St Annual Dentistry From The Heart event in Salinas, California on February 7, 2014. The event was put together by Dr. Gary Klugman of Blanco Circle Dental Care. The one day event helped treat 145 patients and provided over $75,000 of free dental care to those in need.

Becky Zwingman, RDA, from Blanco Circle Dental Care describes her experience.

The event was definitely awesome, I must say myself. Words can’t describe the feeling of walking up to the office at 5:30 A.M. and seeing two tents on our lawn and knowing people were camping out and already lined up the night before, starting at 11:30 P.M. Thursday night. It was a great feeling to be able to sit back on Friday and watch all my hard work of putting together this event play out and unravel before my eyes. We were able to treat 120 patients on Friday. The last patient walked out at 6:30 P.M. (we were supposed to end at 5:00 P.M.). We currently scheduled another 25 patients within this last week since we ran out of time on the day of the event. I totaled the dollar value for this event and it came to $75,000. I must say, I was exhausted beyond belief and hurting Friday night. I don’t think I was myself again until Sunday.

Thank you Dr. Klugman and Blanco Circle Dental Care for creating such an incredible event in your community!

Southern Branch Manager Summit: Estes Park, CO

On June 20th to June 22nd, The Southern Branch Managers of Burkhart Dental had a Summit in Estes Park, CO.  Estes Park is located about 1 hr 1/2 outside of the Denver Airport.  It is a renown recreational area with beautiful trees, streams, lakes, rivers and parks.  It is known as the eastern entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park.  It is probably most famous for inspiring Stephen King’s “The Shining” (although not filmed there) and also for the hotel in Jim Carrey’s “Dumb and Dumber”

As we all finally made it to our lodging, one can see how this place was ideal for a few days of meetings.  Gone were the walls of a stuffy hotel meeting room.  They were replaced by the fresh crisp country air and refreshing soul cleansing water (from the tap I might add) that tasted better than any bottled water in the world.  This is a view from our room and walking to our rooms.

One can see that this was not going to be just another Manager Meeting.  Once the meeting was underway, with the topics on the agenda, everyone had something to contribute whether they’ve been with the company 1 year or 20 years.  The mix of Managers from new to experienced added such a great mix of ideas and contributions.

It was not all work and no play.  After an exhausting day of debates and best practices, it was time for fly fishing.  The Groups local fisherman, George was giving instruction to the team.

It was a great time for bonding and learning.  Best practices from the Veterans and new ideas from the newer Managers.  Lead by our fearless leader, Kathy Inman, this group had a dynamic few days of meeting.  We even came up with a new Southern Manager Salute, but that is another story for another time…

Burkhart Named One of Seattle Business Magazine’s Best Companies

We are thrilled to announce that we were named one of Seattle Business magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work for in 2012! This was our first year entering the competition and we couldn’t be happier about making the list! We were recognized as a large company winner for our commitment to:

  • Benefits
  • Communication
  • Corporate Culture
  • Hiring and Retention
  • Performance Standards
  • Responsibility and Decision Making
  • Rewards and Recognition
  • Training and Education
  • Work Environment

After applying for the award, our Associates completed an anonymous survey about our company conducted by Seattle’s Gilmore Research Group. This survey had a direct impact on us making the list as well as our ranking. Our Associates said the Leadership of our Executives differentiated us, and I couldn’t agree more.

Thank you to everyone who helped us make the list and win this amazing award! To view the 100 Best Companies to Work for in the state of Washington in 2012, click here.
